Rayon Mix Archives

I found myself looking through pictures of Katie Holmes today. As you know, the actress loves to wear scarves. You can see all our posts about her here. Now here’s a recent shot of the actress that made me take a second glance – her in a cozy sweater with a tassel trimmed scarf around her neck:

Now I am no fan of big tassels or pom poms on scarves, but I would have to say she actually looks cute here. And I can see that she really made the scarf her “own”; something that doesn’t usually happen to people who sport heavily trimmed scarves because in most cases, they either wear it wrong or it looks awkward (and sometimes too much).

This also brings me to the question, how do you girls feel about heavily tasseled or pom pom trimmed scarves?

Personally I am not into it. I prefer understated dressing and tasseled or pom pom scarves don’t give you that. But if the tassels (or pom poms) are small or tiny enough, maybe, just maybe, I would give it a go. Here’s a good example of what I’d pick out:

La Fiortentina Pom Pom Cashmere Wrap, USD138

That’s probably the best I can do. So how about you, would you fashion tassel or pom pom scarves? Do you love ‘em or hate ‘em? Do you prefer the add-ons bigger and more pronounced? Or do you prefer ‘em small and dainty? If I were to ask you to pick from the scarves below, which would you wear?

Collection XIIX Feathered Floral Scarf, USD18.90 (was USD38)

Betsey Johnson Waffle Knit Muffler, USD44.90 (was USD68)

Eileen Fisher Cloud Tassel Trimmed Scarf, USD98

Sir Alistair Rai Camo Handkerchief Scarf, USD63

Trouve Scriblle Scarf, USD45

Chan Luu Hand Dyed Sweater Knit Scarf, USD118

Well, which one? Or would it be none of the above? To purchase any of these scarves, simply head over to Nordstrom. Enjoy shopping!

Olivia Wilde is Cool In Olive

Check out Olivia Wilde looking super cool in earthy tones. What a looker, right? This was taken while the actress was spotted out and about in New York City late last week.

What do you think of Olivia’s outfit here ladies? Would you fashion it yourself?

Sexy may not be among the words to describe Olivia’s monochromatic style here, but laid back chic would be it. Obviously, we’re loving the play of neutrals in the outfit, but can you appreciate? We also love the fact that she surprisingly doesn’t look drab and washed out even with the subdued colors she put together.

If you want to channel Olivia’s street style here, simply purchase an olive colored scarf and pair it with brown toned pieces. Need help in picking the essentials? Try these:

1. Scarf: Love Quotes Rayon Eyelash Fringe Scarf, USD63 (was USD90) / 2. Bag: LAUREN by Ralph Lauren Harbridge Saddle Bag, USD183 (was USD228) / 3.
