It’s true what they say about this season. Scarves ARE everywhere. Brands from premium to mass market are now capitalizing on scarves, using its prints/patterns (even the actual scarf itself) and infusing it into their designs. One such label is Comme Des Garcons. Check out this very colorful piece from the brand – the Vintage Scarf Skirt. Yup, this avante garde looking creation is made up entirely of vintage silk scarves, hence the multicolored and print-on-print effect:

I admit, this is not a scarf, it’s a skirt so technically it shouldn’t be here, but it could very well be by the number of silk scarves they used to create the whole thing. It is literally a patchwork of scarves – draped, tucked, pleated, folded, and stitched together just to come up with the piece. This just goes to show that a scarf can be many things and you can do SO MUCH with it. I’m not sure exactly how many vintage silk scarves Comme Des Garcons used to create this skirt, but judging from the really hefty price tag, it’s probably a lot.

That said, I personally love the assorted prints. It’s a cocktail of colorful confection and I can’t help but be amazed. It’s really just too bad that the skirt is quite pricey. I think with a bit of styling, a neat belt, and a good pair of stilettos, this skirt could do more than just stop a crowd.
