Blake Lively: Cute in Burberry

It has been quite a while since we’ve written anything about Blake Lively (well, not really a while; like maybe weeks). Since our last post, the blond beauty has not only managed to find a new boyfriend, but she has also acquired a cute little dog. She was even spotted cuddling it while on her way to Ryan Reynolds’ apartment (yes ladies, the two are dating) in Boston last week (November 13).

And while everyone else was probably talking about “her going to his apartment”, we were too busy admiring Blake’s cute outfit. She had on a simple tee and tweed shorts which she sassed up with tights, knee boots, and a trench. But the cute toppers that finished her look were the ones that made her super chic – a ribboned hat and a patterned scarf:

What do you think of Blake’s latest cold weather style everyone?

Really cute, yes? Now let’s move on to that scarf. If you’re thinking it really looks familiar, that’s because it’s a Burberry. And although it is quite the classic, up close it offers more than just that. Blake’s scarf is this Burberry Python Pleated Mega Check Scarf and what makes it unique is its textured material:

If you find the waffle-like appearance of this scarf more than just mildly interesting and you’re willing to shell out money for a Burberry, then feel free to shop for the piece at SAKS. Grabbing one will cost you a hefty USD450 but judging from the fact that you’re ready to buy, that information probably wouldn’t matter.

Now if you want to copy Blake’s style here, you can easily do so by using what’s in your closet (tee, shorts, and brown or camel knee high boots), and making sure you have the key pieces ready. Apart from the scarf, you’ll need colored (brown or burgundy) tights, a trench, and a cute hat; and if you have a little pup, bring it along too:

We hear Blake Lively went on a shopping binge in NYC a couple of weeks back. The young blond reportedly spent over US$7000 worth of designer goods at the EditNewYork boutique, snagging a couple of Proenzas and several Marants on display. And while Blake’s extravagant shopping session kept a lot of tongues wagging, we on the other hand, were too busy noticing the bulky scarf she wore while she engaged in the retail therapy. Blake used a chunky pink knitted scarf over her fabulous leather on leather outfit. It was hard not to notice the topper because it didn’t exactly go with her whole look. Check out Blake below:

Well, what can you say about the style? Do you think she should have worn a different scarf, one best suited for fall? Or is  the juxtaposition a perfect match? True, the odd combination of textures looks quite intriguing – matte to shiny and rough to smooth, but the real question is, is it a solid style hit or a miss?

In case you’re curious, Blake’s heavy scarf is by Stella McCartney – a piece made of alpaca silk wool mix that is obviously more suitable for winter. If you want it, you can find it at MyTheresa. Be careful though, because grabbing one will cost you a hefty USD465. If you’re not that picky, you can actually SAVE by purchasing this cable knit infinity scarf from Fossil, which you can find at Zappos:

Not a bad substitute indeed; and it will only cost you US$58! As for Blake, although she did look undeniably good in that Stella McCartney, perhaps a less overwhelming scarf would have made her look even better – such as this piece from Juicy Couture (also available at Zappos):
