They may have been banned by the International Football Association Board on the field, but out on the streets, they’re still pretty much hot stuff.

Snoods are relatively babies in the fashion world. While the term isn’t new, the concept of it being part scarf and part hood was introduced by Burberry in 2009. Today, many men and women are fans of the snood because of their convenience and practicality.

The sporty version which was popularized by some Manchester United players like Carlos Tevez, are smaller and concentrated more on just neck-warming. These are now banned on the field because they are not part of the uniform anyway and may be hazardous to the player’s safety.

Fortunately, there is no Fashion Board that monitors the streets. And if there was, I doubt if the snood will be a target. They come in all lengths and prints, I’m already considering a collection. Here are some cute snoods available on Shopbop.

Felix Snood, $175, Diane von Furstenberg

Uma Snood, $178, Marc by Marc Jacobs

Zipper Snood, $270, McQ – Alexander McQueen
